"The Diver Project"
an interactive media installation for the public space, it's finalization is planned for 2013.
“The Diver Project” will be a hybrid-reality and multi-sensorial experience for the urban public space, a media art project that deals with representational power, perceptional stimuli, modes of surveillance and systems of control.
The original idea for this project is inspired by the view one can get from the diving platform of the Barcelona Olympic Stadium. The stadium is constructed on a hill - on one side you can see the city - on the other side you see the open sea.
“The Diver Project” will be a large-scale interactive media installation that gives eyes to multiple subjective viewpoints captured from the body of a competition springboard diver, during his dives, and displaying them – transformed - in the urban public space. The images, sound and biometric data, like velocity, kinesthetic inertia and gravity, as well as camera-tracking data, originating from the diver’s body, will build the source-material for the installation development.
The final installation shall be accessible to everyone and will be most likely presented as an application for an existing Urban Screen system, as an outdoor and site-specific multiple-screen installation - designed and distributed in space -, or as projections mapped onto existing architecture. The interface for the interactivity depends on the final choice of the presentation format, a mobile phone for the Urban Screen version or, a sensor-based physical interaction model, for the multiple screen installation or the projection mapping.
